Cape-based photographic dealership Photo Shaps has invested in its digital and ICT future by outsourcing the management of its entire IT networking infrastructure to Integr8 IT. The proactive service level agreement has ensured that Photo Shaps, a business that dates back to the 1950s, retains clear control over its ICT infrastructure, usage and output.
Integr8 IT began with a complete investigation of its client`s IT structure from a high operational and strategic level, right down to the technology existing at the core and edge of the network, across multiple offices. The synopsis included centralised control and consolidation of the IT environment with a resulting decrease in IT costs to the company, as well as increased capacity and guaranteed uptime.
According to Robert Sussman, joint-MD of Integr8 IT, Photo Shaps has relied primarily on third-party Internet connectivity, Web site hosting, cabling and the management of financial accounting software
"Our mandate was to address the company`s entire IT system, including people, processes and technology," explains Sussman. "From this point, we put together an entire workflow system and an accountability and responsibility schedule to help cover the co-ordination between various third-party contractors. Our focus is on meeting Photo Shaps` requirements going forward, in terms of IT systems and effective online presence."
This strategy has materialised into a hand-over of control to Photo Shaps and the effective removal of risk and dependency.
"What we have done is turned the company`s intellectual capital into structural capital and provided a secure level of control. This means Photo Shaps is in a far more advantageous position and can relay its requirements to IT personnel. The company is far more empowered from an IT perspective," adds Sussman.
