Network integration specialist Integr8 IT has been contracted to provide cross continent and inter-branch connectivity, framework design and services for the US-based multibillion-dollar natural gas and crude oil corporation Forest Oil.
In what has been described as a substantial opportunity for the company, Integr8 IT will play a direct role in the growth and development of the Western Cape region.
The two companies have also entered into a 24-hour service level agreement by which the network integrators will guarantee the complete solution remains reliable with respect to global data connectivity and communication.
According to Francois Conradie, senior network engineer at Integr8 IT, the project involves a substantial amount of on-site implementation and involves the design, deployment and continues proactive support of an enterprise-wide connectivity solution.
This is dependant on site connectivity, VPN tunnelling, global messaging, firewall security, active directory and much more. The solution will provide the platform for vital communication between Forest Oil`s head office in the US and the corporation`s southern Africa office.
"Integr8 IT will play a major role in the economic development of the Western Cape. The complete HP Compaq Core solution is complemented by a complex Cisco switching, routing and firewalling topology," explains Naweed Kazi, Integr8 IT Project Co-ordinator.
Robert Sussman, director at Integr8 IT, says the implementation has allowed for reliable global connectivity and complete global enterprise messaging based on the Microsoft Exchange messaging platform with unified messaging.
"We had to confer with the Forest Oil head offices to find out their existing standards and exact requirements - before proposing the required solution. Our ability to work and communicate globally allowed us to once again prove our world-class inter-company knowledge capital. Being only the second company in Africa to be awarded Microsoft Gold Status for Enterprise Systems together with our MTN Network Solutions Platinum certification, we were able to supply the completely Microsoft and Cisco certified-based connectivity solution, using the highest skills the industry has to offer.
