National network integration and infrastructure management specialist Integr8 IT recently completed a high-level infrastructure and installation project, incorporating new hardware, software, deployment and set-up, as well as office automation and audio-visual equipment, for the local offices of Currencies Direct, a UK-based global commercial foreign exchange services provider exclusively dealing in bank-to-bank transfers.
From an international focus point of view, Currencies Direct also offers private individuals the benefit of preferred exchange rates which banks traditionally and currently reserve for business clientele.
The company now has a local presence in SA. According to Lawrence Jacobs, General Manager at Currencies Direct, the company required infrastructure that could adequately facilitate the information-intensive environment associated with foreign exchange trade.
The local office would have to ensure access to information and rapid data transfer in dealing with client`s funds and also maintain a long distance relationship with its head office in London.
"We approached Integr8 IT and supplied them with an overall business spec including our key requirements. Integr8 IT used this information and put together a proposal that included the design, supply and installation of all critical infrastructure in order to get our local operation off the ground," says Jacobs.
"From a workstation point of view alone, our mandate was to connect all stations to the new domain once the server was fully setup, then load all the necessary updates and service packs, install Norton Antivirus and Microsoft Office 2003, and connect the extra monitors to the screen splitter," explains Fahmi Jacobs, project manager at Integr8 IT.
"Although relatively complex, the project has been completed in time and according to all stipulated requirements. We are on board with Currencies Direct as their IT support partner and we look forward to a great working relationship going forward," he adds.
