The recent spate of spam attacks has caused major disruption within the local market and will likely force corporations to sit up and take more cognisance of their state of online security, says Bennie Strydom, Business Development Manager at national network integration and ICT infrastructure management specialist Integr8 IT.
According to Strydom, the company`s MailG8 solution had managed to detect the virus, said to originate from Sober.P variant outbreak, and prevent many clients from experiencing a shortage of bandwidth and loss due to downtime.
"A News24 report described the avalanche of e-mails as `one of the largest electronic spam attacks to date`. The spam utilises available bandwidth and paralyses the network. Our solution proved its worth by ensuring that none of our clients were hit," says Strydom.
