Integ8 IT, South Africa's largest privately-owned national IT network integration and infrastructure management specialist, has sponsored IT infrastructure towards the Savoy Waverly Active Protection (SWAP) crime-fighting initiative.
SWAP is a community-based anti-crime initiative, established in consultation with residents and business owners of Savoy and Waverly in Johannesburg. The organisation adopts a multi-faceted approach to combating crime - one based on early identification, counter-observation, surveillance, and static and mobile armed patrols.
It is endorsed by, inter alia, the station commissioners of Norwood and Bramley Community Policing Forums (CPFs), the Norwood CPF and the CSO.
As a Section 21 company, SWAP continues to sustain its operation through the ongoing support of home and business owners. The initiative is currently working towards registering with the City Improvement District (CID) and gaining approval status. This will allow for costs to be incorporated into local rates.
Integr8 IT is located within the Waverly area and has provided much-needed ICT infrastructure and services to SWAP.
"We salute all efforts to combat crime, a situation in this country that continues to affect individuals and businesses alike," says Lance Fanaroff, joint MD at Integr8 IT. "Our core focus and expertise is based on ICT infrastructure management, related support and key services. This infrastructure is crucial for any organisation - especially one that incorporates remote control, remote access to a central network and mobility as part of its daily operation."
"It is our hope that this contribution of essential communications infrastructure and services will enable the community-based service to sustain its effort in protecting people and businesses," adds Fanaroff.
