Network integration specialist Integr8 IT has been contracted to manage the network capability and infrastructure running throughout several businesses housed at Softline Technology Park - the formidable base of the Softline group.
The JSE-listed Softline is an international developer of accounting, payroll and tax software with operations located across four continents.
The project is an integral part of the national contract awarded to Integr8 IT by the Softline group to provide the skills to support and manage the company`s entire network infrastructure.
Softline Technology Park houses a number of well known business units belonging to Softline - including Softline`s head office, Pastel Software, Brilliant Business Systems, AccountMate Africa, Lorge Consulting and MasterSkill.
Robert Sussman, director at Integr8 IT, says: "Many companies have suffered from poor IT service. This is largely due to a shortage of skilled resources in the SA market, which in turn is directly related to financial indices. Downtime is the single most significant reason why companies cannot correlate improved productivity and bottom lines as a result of their IT infrastructure. It is for this reason that superior maintenance and turnaround times on a company`s IT environment is critical to enhance seamless business continuity."
The management of the park`s IT network infrastructure is extremely important and highly relevant to daily business. However, as Glenn Miller, Softline`s Group Systems Manager, points out, the project is substantial. "Although our IT network infrastructure remains an important backbone to our businesses, we need to focus on developing and growing our core accounting and payroll software operations.
"We wanted to outsource this project to a company that has a proven track record within other network environments. The original infrastructure was implemented without much forethought regarding systems growth, Ethernet rules and networking topology. Integr8 IT was initially brought in on a smaller contract to help with one or two divisions within the group. Having witnessed their capability and expertise, we soon moved them over to the management of the entire group`s infrastructure," adds Miller.
Says Erez Grushka, Operations Manager at Integr8 IT: "This was a relatively complicated and strategic project. The Softline Technology Park houses several software companies that all require robust network connectivity and speed. Integr8 IT have the necessary skills to handle the management of the entire networking capability of the park."
