Intel eyes Internet TV
Internet TV, CBR reports.
Intel is apparently looking to branch out from traditional chipset manufacturing and into the content management business.
As proposed, the plan would let consumers get their shows on any Internet-connected device without subscribing to traditional cable and satellite TV services, Bloomberg Businessweek states.
Intel's inquiries are at an early stage, and it's uncertain whether the company will gain the rights needed for the proposed service.
Intel is supposedly also developing its own set-top box to stream the TV programmes via the Internet, CNET says.
This is unlike Apple's rumoured HDTV and most smart TVs, which offer comparable video-on-demand capabilities such as Netflix without extra add-on devices.
