Intel Online Services launches service enhancements

AppChoice gives customers greater flexibility
Johannesburg, 20 Apr 2001

Intel Online Services today announced service enhancements that give customers more choice and greater flexibility over their outsourced e-Business solutions. The enhancements are integrated into Intel Online Services` AppChoice(SM) Managed Hosting Service, which allows customers to develop a management plan for their e-Business solutions and utilize the technology, skills and expertise of Intel Online Services to manage those solutions. Today`s announcement adds Premium Back Up and Recovery, Integrated Monitoring and response, and a customer care portal to the AppChoice service.

Companies that outsource their e-Business operations benefit from a pre-tested service that delivers reliability, lower costs and decreases time-to-market, while preserving the opportunity to choose from several service options that take into account their diverse business processes. AppChoice is a flexible service that enables Intel Online Services to manage customer`s e-Business solutions according to their business needs.

"Outsourcing your Web services doesn`t mean you have to give up control of your business," said Renee James, director of worldwide marketing for Intel Online Services. "We work with our customers to set goals and objectives for how their solutions are managed. AppChoice was designed with flexibility to meet a variety of business requirements so we can create the optimal result for our customers."

The Premium Back Up and Recovery feature allows customers to define when and how their data is backed up and restored, and to select the elements they want to recover. This feature gives customers greater flexibility to meet their individual data protection requirements. The Integrated Monitor and Response feature allows customers to tell Intel Online Services to monitor specific events and take actions take based on event outcomes. The feature is pre-tested and integrated into each Web, database and general hosting service, yet is customizable to meet customer application and solution needs.

The customer care portal offers customers a single, Web-based access point for monitoring the performance of e-Business solutions and the activities undertaken by Intel Online Services. The secure portal features real-time access to network, bandwidth, availability, usage and performance reports. The portal can be accessed anywhere, anytime through the Internet and is available to customers worldwide in English and Japanese languages.

"We chose Intel Online Services because of the flexibility of their offering and the ability to get us up and running quickly," said Bob Rudy, vice president of business excellence for Lam Research Corporation. "The expanded AppChoice capabilities give us the on demand data we need to make quick business decisions."

"Our business is based on having employee information available 24 hours a day, seven days a week," said Tim Jenkins, president of Simpata, Inc. "We worked closely with Intel Online Services to establish the parameters for uptime and reliability to meet our goals and create the best solution possible for our business."
