Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against viruses, spyware and spam, has announced the latest version of its Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X.
The new offering provides complete protection against all known threats on the Apple Macintosh operating system, and includes support for the new Intel Duo processor powered iMac and MacBook Pro products.
Available in English, Japanese, French, German and Spanish language versions, Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X, version 4.7 allows users to perform on-demand scanning of files and folders, while its on-access scanner intercepts file accesses and protects against all types of malware, including non-Mac viruses, providing a multi-layered defence against threats.
"With the introduction of the new Intel-based products it`s important for companies to use the same version of Sophos Anti-Virus regardless of the type of Macs being used. Through its latest software for Mac OS X, Sophos continues to offer the highest level of virus protection to all Mac users," says Brett Myroff, CEO of local Sophos distributor, NetXactics.
Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X enables automatic updates for all desktops, whether they are located within the office or on the road. In addition, third-party developers producing anti-virus or security products for Mac OS X are able to integrate Sophos virus scanning technology into their products in the same way that OEMs and system integrators have done on Windows and Unix platforms.
