Intel server programme targets small businesses, emerging markets

Effort to help system builders deliver competitive systems and technology

Intel Corporation today announced a worldwide programme to better educate small and medium-sized businesses on how to select the right server system to best meet their computing needs.

"Our research shows only a minority of small businesses, especially in emerging markets, have the necessary server systems to operate efficiently," said Willy Agatstein, general manager of Intel`s Reseller Product Group. "Many others are making do with desktop computers that were designed as single-user PCs, or outmoded proprietary systems. Our goal is to provide training and resources to the system builders who serve these customers so that more small businesses can manage their computing infrastructure efficiently."

Through the "real server campaign", which is being rolled out worldwide this week, Intel will work with its industry partners in the channel, including distributors, dealers, system builders, local original equipment manufacturers, ODMs and solution providers to provide technical and marketing assistance to reach small and mid-sized businesses. Emerging computer markets around the world, such as China, India, Brazil, Mexico and Russia, will receive special focus.

The programme will highlight the server infrastructure to best meet the modern demands of enterprise computing, including multitasking, security, networking and extensive storage. The correct server may deliver several cost advantages to a business, including lower operating cost, improved performance and room to grow. Part of this "real server" effort is to recommend appropriate enterprise-class system designs based on the Intel Xeon processor, along with high-bandwidth connections, high-capacity storage, redundant components and a server operating system with multi-user applications.

Programme training for system builders includes technical information, hardware samples, white papers, product briefs, advertising templates, collateral material, marketing training and a pricing rebate schedule.
