Intel updates Atom processor

Intel has updated its Atom processor-based platform for home and small business storage appliances, reports Computerworld.

The updated chip offers a performance boost and supports a new memory technology, Intel said.

The new 1.8GHz D425 (single core) and D525 (dual core) processors are paired with the Intel's 82801 IR I/O controller that delivers the connectivity. Both new processor platforms support Microsoft Windows Home Server and open source Linux operating systems.

Computerlinks, Avanti Communications partner

Computerlinks, a distributor of IT and technology solutions, has signed a new three-year contract worth £4.5 million with Satellite ISP, Avanti Communications, states ISPreview.

The deal will see Computerlinks become a major distributor for Avanti's Business Continuity products.

The patented business Internet continuity service is supposedly capable of instantly restoring, by satellite, not only connectivity but also IP addressing in the event of a failure of a customers' primary telecoms circuit.

RecoverGuard unveiled for disaster management

Continuity Software, a provider of disaster recovery and monitoring offerings, has introduced new version of its disaster recovery vulnerability detection offering, says CBR Security.

The software features private cloud advisor designed to enable customers ensure availability, recoverability and adherence to industry best practices in the private cloud.

RecoverGuard accommodates over 4 000 risk signatures in an auto-updated knowledgebase and provides data protection validation, server OS configuration analysis, cluster configuration validation, HA/DR optimisation, and heterogeneous platform support.
