Intel distributor AXiZ has announced that stock of Intel`s Pentium III 550Mhz processor is immediately available. The processor, which was announced by Intel in mid-May, is the company`s fastest commercially available processor and has been designed to power a rich audio and video Internet experience.
"In addition, when combined with feature-rich motherboards such as Intel`s SR440BX, the Pentium III processor offers enhanced performance in the arenas of imaging, streaming audio and video, and speech recognition," says Alex Morse, microprocessor product manager at AXiZ. "We anticipate demand for this product from customers looking for exceptional performance on applications both on and off the Internet."
The Pentium III processor at 550 MHz is 108 percent faster than the Intel Pentium II processor at 450 MHz on CPU intensive 3-D calculations, as shown by Ziff-Davis` 3D WinBench 99 transform and lighting test. Using Futuremark`s MultimediaMark multimedia performance benchmark, the Pentium III processor at 550 MHz is 53 percent faster than the 450 MHz Pentium II processor.
Other Intel processors available from AXiZ include Intel Celeron processors, Pentium II processors, and mobile processors in Pentium II format.
