Intel`s latest motherboard offering, the DDR-SDRAM 333-supporting D845PESV "Silver Reef", is now available from Axiz.
According to desktops product manager at Axiz, Alex Morse, the board provides enhanced flexibility along with the traditional advantages of the Intel environment: extensive validation and testing, reliability, availability, and three-year limited warranty.
"Now that DDR has matured to become a memory technology as stable and available as its predecessors, SDRAM and RDRAM, Intel supports it enthusiastically in the Intel 845 chipset and provides it on the boards integrating that chipset," she says.
"This means that system developers and integrators now have a full package based on the Pentium 4 architecture - processor, chipset, desktop board, and value-add software - supporting the memory demands of any market segment they might wish to target."
The motherboard supports the Intel Pentium 4 processor with mPGA478 packaging, and Intel`s NetBurst microarchitecture, including 533MHz and 400MHz system bus. To optimise DDR memory performance, the 845 chipset implements enhancements that minimise setup times and maximise throughput.
For example, the 82845 Memory Controller Hub supports both up to 333Mhz DDR, and the latest graphics devices through a 1.5V AGP4X interface. The 82801BA I/O Controller Hub connects graphics and memory directly for faster peripheral access.
"The D845PESV motherboard has two DIMM sockets, which provides support for up to 2GB of memory - more than enough for even the most demanding desktop user," says Morse. "In addition, six USB 2.0 ports are featured in four rear and two front panel connectors, making peripheral connection easy and fast."
