Intelsat has appointed a new head for its African region.
Jon Osler will replace Flavien Bachabi effective January 2011, according to the fixed satellite service provider.
Osler has been appointed managing director of Intelsat's Africa sales team. He currently serves as a global account director at the company, working on strategic global accounts.
Prior to joining Intelsat, Osler served as the leader of Middle East and Africa sales for ViaSat, a satellite networking services company. He has over 20 years of sales experience in communications and technology companies, says Intelsat.
“Jon has proven skill in developing strategic customer solutions that support rapid growth, an ideal match for the changing business environment in Africa, which includes pan-regional growth and consolidation among service providers,” says Intelsat's senior VP of global sales Kurt Riegelman.
Moving on
Bachabi has been appointed as the new head of the Luxembourg headquarters. He will fill the position of VP for business operations and inter-governmental initiatives.
“His responsibilities will include the oversight of all major business operations, joint venture agreements and regulatory filings. In addition, Bachabi will be responsible for managing new business activities with inter-governmental entities, development banks and similar organisations,” says the company.
It adds that Bachabi will continue to have a role in the African region, supporting major sales initiatives.
