ProScan Systems announced that Intermec Technologies Corp was recently awarded EPCglobal RFID Hardware Certification Marks at the EPCglobal US Conference 2005 in Atlanta.
The EPCglobal Hardware Certification Marks are specific to Intermec`s 915MHz and 865MHz IM5 RFID reader modules, which are used in Intermec`s fixed RFID IF5 smart reader, fixed RFID IF4 serial reader, mobile RFID IV7 vehicle reader and the PM4i printer/encoder.
ProScan is the sole value-added distributor for Intermec in southern Africa.
Intermec RFID systems are at work around the world helping make companies more efficient and effective, and IM5-based RFID readers are already deployed in 20 countries. A Generation 2 multi-protocol firmware upgrade will be available in Q4 2005. IM5 modules and the RFID equipment into which they`re incorporated are certified for FCC Part 15 operation and comply with European ETSI requirements for true global supply chain operation.

The RFID Hardware Certifications, delivered during the 2005 EPCglobal US Conference at the Georgia World Congress Centre, ensures marketplace products have been rigorously tested against EPCglobal standards and will carry a unique 18-digit Global Service Relation Number (GSRN) with information that references the exact testing suite completed.
