International award to local information security leaders

By Exponant
Pretoria, 08 Mar 2011

Tucked away in Centurion, Pretoria, is a company that is a well-kept secret. However, with 300 employees, R120 million annual turnover and recognised as one of South Africa's top 300 companies, Exponant is actually a quiet powerhouse in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector on the African continent.

This has been acknowledged through it recently receiving an award at the 2011 Splunk Partner Conference, in San Francisco. Splunk's vice-president of business development, Bill Gaylord, took the opportunity to present the company with Splunk's international Outstanding Achievement Award for Partner Sales in EMEA.

Receiving the award were Exponant's Willem Barnard, business development manager, and Stephan Buys, senior information security consultant.

Comments Exponant's executive manager, Wolfgang Selzer, who heads the company's information security division: “We are extremely pleased at being acknowledged as one of Splunk's top partners worldwide. This underlines the value of our investment into making it successful in the EMEA region.

“Massive cybercrime is driving information security across the globe. We became the sole African Splunk-powered value added reseller just over two years ago, with the knowledge that Splunk is the leading operational intelligence software used to monitor, report and analyse live streaming information technology data as well as terabytes of historical data. This software has now been deployed in some of this region's leading financial institutions, telecommunication providers and large corporate concerns.”

Selzer believes Exponant's success with Splunk in the EMEA region can be attributed to the company's absolute commitment to deploying only state-of-art products and solutions to ensure that their clients realise optimal value from their ICT systems. Exponant also employs some of this continent's leading information technology architects and places substantial emphasis on having the right skills available.
