Telecommunications systems integration house, BSW-Telecoms, has become the first South African associate member of the international networking standards authority, the Network Management Forum (NMF). The NMF is a non-profit consortium of 210 of the world`s leading service providers, equipment suppliers and systems integrators. Its mission is to develop practical, solutions for integrating operational support systems and improving the management of telecommunications networks and services. The NMF provides leadership by establishing a common strategic vision for the telecom industry and proposing solutions that are already supported by a range of hardware and software products. According to BSW-Telecoms international sales manager, Sean Taylor, much of the NMF`s focus is on improving end-to-end information flow, and interconnection for, critical service and network management processes. "Working in a spirit of co-operation in a business-orientated environment, the NMF`s members produce a range of business processes and standards-based specifications and solutions, that enable service providers to effectively compete in today`s global markets," he says. "Every NMF member has a stake in seeing certain problems resolved; and by participating in the formation and operation of work programmes, members can solve these issues with widespread support," says Taylor. Taylor, Richard Askham and Bryan Booth will represent BSW Telecoms at the forthcoming TeleManagement World conference in Paris (20 - 24 April 1998). This event comprises a series of workshops, product displays and planning sessions for telecom service providers and suppliers.
