National network integration and infrastructure management specialist Integr8 IT has helped Japan Tobacco International South Africa (Pty) Ltd (JTI) with a comprehensive national market research project using iPAQ PDA technology.
JTI has its head office in Geneva, Switzerland, and that office communicates with and officiates over approximately 37 sites worldwide. Africa forms a significant part of Middle East, Near East and Africa (MENEA).
Integr8 IT was brought in to provide the hardware and support for the devices used to capture direct comment and information from the company`s target market across SA.
"As our IT partners, Integr8 IT provided all the hardware and relevant support, including onsite personnel to field all telephonic queries. We are very pleased with the progress of the project," explains IT Manager at JTI, Kim Gallinetti.
"The move to a mobile solution allows the capture of information in real-time, provides an efficient platform for smooth data transfer and vastly improves the storage, analysis and distribution of the data," says Gallinetti.
Integr8 IT technical manager and project manager Bennie Strydom describes the iPAQ as a robust, easily managed PDA which encompasses a great deal of functionality.
"JTI decided to go with the iPAQ because it features Compaq Pocket PC 2003, which was developed specifically for Pocket PC and has the full office suite ensuring timely and effective data capture. There is also the option to expand into GPRS at a later stage," Strydom concludes.
