Internet Company South Africa appoints CEO

Rodney de Koch has joined ICOZA as its newly appointed chief executive officer.

De Koch has been in the IT industry for the last 20 years. He started his IT career in operations in the early 1980s. Over the years he served in multiple IT capacities from programmer, Unix technical specialist, business analyst, pre-sales consultant, product specialist, product manager, sales executive and sales and marketing manager.

De Koch left the shores of SA for a number of years working abroad. He also had a spell in the Middle East as a senior management consultant for IBM, based in Saudi Arabia.

In 1999, De Koch moved to London in the capacity as European sales manager focusing on the European ISP/ASP market. He relocated to Paris, France, focusing on ISP/ASP solutions within companies such as France Telecom, Societies Generale, Deutsche Telecom, Credit Agricole, Renault, KPNQwest, Vodafone, One-2-One and British Gas.

Upon his return to SA, he was assigned from SITA to the position as director: Business Information Planning and Integration, and for short periods, acting CIO for the Department of Foreign Affairs. In his last assignment at SITA, he served as acting manager for Systems Analysis and Design for SITA-Civilian in the Business Solutions and Architecture section.

ICOZA is SA`s first independently empowered first tier ISP offering a complete range of ISP and value-added services to support client`s connectivity and e-business infrastructure requirements.

As an empowerment venture of the J&J Group, and the first tier one BEE initiative in the ISP market, ICOZA (Internet Company South Africa) represents a close collaboration with SA`s leading Internet services provider, Internet Solutions.

The ICOZA joint venture between the J&J Group and Internet Solutions (IS) builds on the existing IS2 tier one platform acquired from Internet Solutions, and extends this capacity and ISP services offering into all the sectors of South African business, and into the African market.

ICOZA was established one year ago to offer a complete range of ISP and value-added services to support all customers` connectivity and e-business infrastructure requirements.

"ICOZA is the only BEE tier one ISP in SA. We have our own tried and trusted infrastructure and are not riding on anyone`s back. We have a rich product set and offer value added services (e-procurement, e-billing, integration, security and other services) alongside our standard ISP services offerings, with credible operational and technology partners," says De Koch.

Since ICOZA was launched last year, it has steadily grown its base of clients, which includes the Department of Trade and Industry, First South (Credit Suisse), Striata, Perago Financial Services, IP Direct, Xylocom, Africa Venture Partners, Lesaka, Aptronics, Network Solutions, Solutions Dymanics, e-Freight, SensePost and others.
