Internet Solutions (IS), a leading converged communications services provider, and subsidiary LayerOne, have announced that from November this year, companies using the IS Hosted Exchange service will be able to have their e-mail "pushed" to a range of mobile devices using LayerOne`s award winning Intellisync Mobile Sync technology.
Anthony Southgate, manager, IS application solutions, says; "South Africans are generally very tech-savvy and as such there is a massive demand from users and organisations to mobilise e-mail. This offering enables mobilisation to many more devices, allowing all our Hosted Exchange customers to implement a service with no capital expenditure. The running costs are totally predictable per user."
The initial offering gives e-mail users with Symbian, Palm or Windows CE devices, as well as notebooks access to their e-mail in real time. The LayerOne Intellisync Wireless E-mail service uses inherent security and compression features and gives users access from anywhere in the world. IS has plans to further extend this to include device management and data sync for those organisations that require access to back end company information, such as SAP, Siebel and Oracle.
"The Hosted Exchange platform at IS supports over 200 organisations and they will now be able to access their e-mail from their mobile devices, including personal information such as calendar, contact, task and notes information. The range of e-mail account options available from IS, in conjunction with the LayerOne services, makes this the only solution of its kind in SA. There are already several corporations that have expressed keen interest in this solution. We feel the user base will grow substantially due to the competitive pricing and added value. Mobile e-mail is the first in a line of solutions that will be extended to these companies," says Stuart Hardy, MD of LayerOne.
Internet Solutions (IS) has transformed its business model and become a leading converged communications service provider in the country.
The business was founded on the principle of developing a robust infrastructure in order for corporations to conduct e-business. Over the past decade IS has established itself as a leader in this space, attracting over 80% of SA`s top businesses as clients.
During its 10 year life span, IS has evolved and grown its service offerings. Today, the company is the leading hosting service provider and security service provider in SA, as well as having significant market share in the virtual private network (VPN) and application service provider (ASP) space.
Internet Solutions, with an Empowerdex BBB rating, has earned an impressive collection of accolades, including eight First National Bank "Most Admired" awards, two Financial Mail Best Company to Work For awards, a place in the Top Unlisted Company Awards, first place in the ISP category for ComputerWeek Strategist`s Best of Breed IT Awards, 2004, eighth in the Top ICT Companies, 2005 and winner of the Best Managed Companies - Internet Section, 2005.
The company partners with major players such as Cisco, Microsoft, Oracle BT and AT&T and in 2002 was certified as a Cisco Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), the first and only company outside of the US to be awarded this accolade.
