Internet Solutions is top South African ITC company to work for

Johannesburg, 13 Oct 2003

The results of the Financial Mail Deloitte & Touche Best Company to work for survey reveal that Internet Solutions (IS) is the top South African ITC company to work for.

Financial Mail in its commentary on the ITC sector noted "ITC companies have never quite made a concerted mark on Best Company To Work For in the past". As a first time entrant, Internet Solutions is justifiably proud of the achievement, particularly considering the stringent criteria applied to the ranking plus the illustrious blue chip environment it finds itself in within the top 20.

According to Deloitte & Touche the survey measures employee and employer attitudes and perceptions in 10 areas. From job satisfaction and management styles through to performance management and communication. The judging criteria highlights the important issues businesses face in attracting and retaining top-level employees. Participation in the survey allows IS to benchmark against other outstanding organisations, many of whom such as Absa, SA Breweries and Edcon are customers of this leading Internet service provider.

Human capital forms the backbone of the company and IS is constantly seeking new and groundbreaking ways to ensure it remains a favoured employer in an industry that has experienced its fair amount of turmoil over the past few years.

IS has long held the view that a talented and committed workforce holds the key to great customer service. "Everyone at IS deserves thanks for the recognition," says Angus MacRobert, Chief Executive Officer of IS. "The company has been built on passion, spirit and integrity. This in turn has lead to a wonderful culture and service excellence ethic that we pass onto our customers and partners. To have been recognised in this way in our 10th year of operation is significant to everyone who has played a role in our success," he concludes.

IS

Established in 1993 as the country`s first commercial Internet service provider, IS has grown in stature and today attracts 80% of the SA`s top 250 listed companies. IS remains the leading ISP with a market share of over 50%. Probably one of the country`s most successful post apartheid companies, IS has expanded from being a pure Internet connectivity provider to an innovative and pioneering business with services that include Internet access, VPNs, hosting, dial-up, security and business gateway solutions. As testimony to its recognition as a market leader, IS has earned an impressive collection of awards, which includes eight First National Bank "Most Admired" awards, Professional Management Review silver and golden arrow awards and even a Loerie award for its design work.

In 2002 IS was certified as a Cisco Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), the first and only company outside of the US to be awarded this accolade. The CPN-MSSP brand associates IS with the worldwide leaders in Internet security.
