Internet Solutions (IS), a leading converged communications services provider, has announced IS Preserv8 is now available via its IS Applications Solutions division.
IS Preserv8 is a cloud-based service which means that it resides centrally within the IS data centres, upstream of the customer's network and is billed on a usage basis.
Says Hayden Lamberti, manager of IS Applications Solutions: “E-mail has become so business critical that e-mail management now extends much further then e-mail content security. To effectively manage e-mail, we now need to look as such issues as disaster recovery and business continuity, e-mail branding, business intelligence and, most importantly, e-mail retention and archiving to enable company compliance.”
IS Preserv8 is at its core an e-mail archiving solution, designed to retain and store e-mail with the ability to search and restore specific or all e-mail at either an administrator level across the entire organisation or at an individual level across a user's own e-mail. However, IS Preserv8 is a tool that enables a full-house of e-mail management features which can all be controlled at an active directory (AD) group level, enabling seamless management and control. All the features are configured per AD group, from e-mail branding, through content filter and, ultimately, retention period for archiving. This means that as a user is added to AD on a customer network, they will automatically inherit any and all policies for the various features that apply to their AD group. However, the system does provide for exceptions or specifically customised policies.
Content filtering and e-mail security, or perimeter protection, is key to managing e-mail volumes, protecting the customer network from spam and e-mail-based viruses and maximising user productivity by blocking non-business e-mail. As such, IS Preserv8 incorporates industry-leading IronPort anti-spam and anti-virus infrastructure from Cisco as well as a Mail Marshall-based detailed content filtering and control system.
Disaster recovery and business continuity are ensured via the graphical user interface which enables each user to use IS Preserv8 as a corporate-branded Webmail facility, so should there be an e-mail infrastructure outage, users can continue to send and receive e-mail which will be both archived and synchronised back to the onsite e-mail infrastructure when it is restored. Additionally, the hosting of this solution is fully replicated across all IS data centres further ensuring high availability and continuity.
E-mail business intelligence is provided via the detailed report complier in IS Preserv8. It reports on any searchable data in the archive to provide detailed reporting as far back as e-mails are archived on the system. E-mail infrastructure administrators can, therefore, provide detailed statistics of e-mail usage across the organisation, line of business or for an individual.
Mail Archiving includes both gateway e-mail and internal e-mail. Internal mail is replicated from the customer's network to the closest IS Preserv8 node overnight. Retention policies can be configured per AD group anywhere from one week to five years as standard with no additional storage costs. The entire environment is compliant to local governance and legislation standards.
Management is via a Web interface enabling 24x7 access for administrators from anywhere as well as providing users with an end-to-end Webmail solution. Field and mobile or at-home workers therefore have access at all times and, with a simple Outlook plug-in, can search current or personally archived e-mails with full restoration features at any time from anywhere.
Further features include e-mail branding and reporting as well as customisable SMS notification systems.
