Internet Solutions signs partnership agreement with Orient Networks

Africa opens up to the East
Johannesburg, 26 Apr 2005

Internet Solutions (IS), a leading converged communications services provider, and Orient Telecommunications Networks Pty Ltd, the largest independent Pan-Asian telecommunications services provider, have signed a bilateral service agreement which opens up communications between the African continent and the increasingly important Pan-Asian markets.

This service provisioning agreement allows Orient Networks and IS to market and promote each other`s products and services providing a seamless platform for greater global reach for both partners through IS` African presence and Orient Networks` Asian stronghold.

"This strategic alliance between Orient Networks and Internet Solutions is significant in that it will open up new opportunities on different playing fields accelerating service development and deployment, innovations and business for both parties," said Kim Odhner, Chief Operating Officer, Orient Networks.

"Recently we have seen a great interest in the African market and thus we were looking at expanding our reach. Our tie-up with Internet Solutions has come after an extensive search and evaluation of the market and we are very happy with this alliance as it gives us access to the whole of Africa because of IS` presence in this region," he continued.

"By combining Orient Networks` comprehensive footprint in Asia and Internet Solutions` infrastructure, bandwidth and support services, we have created new options to serve our customers better in a seamless manner across the challenging African market," he added.

"This partnership with Orient Networks will enable our customers to connect their African clients to their Asian counterparts or trading partners under one standard service level agreement," says Ermano Quartero, Director - Business Solutions for IS.

"For IS, this agreement opens a channel to establish an Asian presence by capitalising on Orient Networks` extensive point of presence (PoPs) - 15 in Asia and two interconnecting to London and Los Angeles - plus extensive domestic capillarity for local access in Asia`s key markets," Quartero added.

The combined connectivity and value-added service offerings resulting from this agreement becomes more attractive to multinational corporations, as well as small and medium businesses (SMBs) for whom both companies can provide one-stop-shop access and solutions across increasingly global markets cost- effectively.

"We are focusing our efforts on allowing our local and regional customers transparent and one-stop, fully serviced, world class services to their partners, customers and associates regardless of location," Quartero continues.

"IS is investing heavily in ensuring reliable and secure services are available across the globe. This agreement is another milestone in our roadmap."
