Internet Solutions (IS), a converged communications services provider, and LGB Distributors have joined forces to supply soccer and netball kits to schools in previously disadvantaged areas across the country.
This is a one year project to help meet the needs of the less fortunate and a total of 100 schools will benefit from this initiative. At a recent ceremony in the Valley of a Thousand Hills, nine local schools received soccer and netball kits.
The schools are Inhanga Primary, Fredville Primary, Sithumba Primary, Rietvallei School, Imbaliyezwe Primary, Siphesihle High School, Zifikele High School, Ethembeni School for the Disabled, and Kwa Thintwa School for the Deaf.
Speaking at the handover at Isithumba Village - Indigo Skate Camp, Steve Herridge, sales manager at IS KwaZulu-Natal branch, said: "IS is a people company and it`s just great to see the smiles on these kids` faces. We want them to believe that it is quite possible for them to represent their nation against the best in the world. Sports activity plays a real role in building self-esteem and confidence; it`s a great pleasure for IS to be involved in this initiative."
To date, 40 schools have received soccer and netball kits and the sponsoring companies consulted with the Sport Trust to ensure the most deserving schools receive the kits. Each hand-over is attended by the various stakeholders and community members. Roll-out will continue nationally over the next year.
