Interoute acquires cloud service provider

Telecom Paper.

The acquisition will add managed application services to its unified computing and managed portfolio.

Cloud Pro explains that Interoute claims to own Europe's largest next-generation network, and offers a number of managed hosting solutions.

However, it said it was keen to “bolster [its] unified ICT strategy” with the addition of Quantix's database and application knowledge, and as a result of the acquisition, plans to offer both Oracle and SQL applications as a service.

According to Real Wire, Gareth Williams, Interoute CEO, says the company's strategy is to offer a portfolio of infrastructure solutions and services, as well as host fully managed services within the Interoute private cloud.

Williams says: “We are focused on service innovation, combined with a constant drive for efficiency, to bring value to customers and keep ahead of the market. Our enterprise strategy, 'unified ICT', is an approach to creating and managing all enterprise ICT infrastructures as a service, delivered from a secure networking platform.”
