InterSystems breaks into Gartner`s top five database list

Gartner has released a report placing InterSystems in the top five database software vendors on Windows worldwide.

InterSystems develops and markets the high-performance CACH'E database. CACH'E is optimised for rapidly building highly scalable Web applications.

The Gartner report, entitled "2002 Database Management Systems Market Share", states that the worldwide DBMS software market declined 6% in new licence revenue and that the majority of vendors saw flat or declining growth in 2002. The RDBMS market grew by only 2% in the same period, the report states.

In sharp contrast, Gartner reports that InterSystems` revenues went up by 27% for new licences on the Windows platform.

"Based on those figures, InterSystems is the fastest growing database provider for Windows," says Henry Adams, country manager of InterSystems South Africa. "CACH'E, which uniquely provides the capability to rapidly build high performance applications with advanced object technology and robust SQL, has been enthusiastically embraced by professional developers. And CACH'E`s combination of high performance and low maintenance lowers the total cost of system ownership - a competitive differentiator that is clearly leading to market growth."

This follows privately held InterSystems` announcement earlier this year of sustained turnover growth and profitability amid the debris of the recession.

"Apart from the financial side of our results, 2002 also saw InterSystems open four new offices on four continents, increase its workforce by 17.5% and make inroads into competitors` markets by increasing its number of customers globally by 12.5%," says Adams.
