InterSystems South Africa, the local arm of the world`s fastest growing database company, is to launch Cach'e Campus, its globally successful education and research programme run in conjunction with tertiary institutions, at Computer Faire.
Cach'e Campus has been a key factor in driving awareness of post-relational technology in general and the Cach'e database in particular, says Henry Adams, country manager of InterSystems South Africa.
"Most companies in the world use relational technology, so students tend to calibrate their thinking in this regard," says Adams. "As such they are unaware of the breakthrough benefits of post-relational technology; Cach'e Campus aims to rectify this by driving awareness at an early age, when students are likely to be at their most receptive. We welcome any students at Computer Faire to come and try our software, and gain exposure to the new wave in database and development environments."
The Cach'e Campus programme donates software licences and provides technical support at no cost for academic use in recognised educational institutions. The programme aids faculties in establishing new curriculum elements: courses, lectures and laboratory projects.
The programme also assists students financially by helping them to locate scholarships, grants in aid and supplementary employment opportunities while in school. In addition, the programme facilitates the linking up of new graduates with career opportunities where employers are searching for people with experience with Cach'e technology.
"Cach'e`s rapid growth worldwide has meant that demand for skilled Cach'e people constantly exceeds supply," Adams notes. "Competency in Cach'e is almost guaranteed to unlock a corporate IT post, locally and internationally."
InterSystems has signed on many tertiary institutions worldwide to Cach'e Campus. Universities include Frankfurt, Ilmenau, Zurich, St John`s Bangkok, Robert Morris, Naresuan, Mahidol, James Madison, Assumption University Bangkok and Chiangmai. Other participants include the Asian Institute of Technology, Moscow Engineering and Physics Institute, Moscow Physics Institute, Dusit Technical College, Amity Business School and Medical University of South Carolina.
"We are in discussions with a number of educational institutions in SA to extend our international success," adds Adams.
While Cach'e happily scales to support any size business requirement, it is also easily accommodated on any student computer. Cach'e is set apart from other databases in its ability to accommodate and be accessed by both object and classic SQL technology. It also has the industry`s fastest development environment, and taken together, the database and development tools represent a completely new paradigm.
