Intrepidus Group, the information security services and software provider, has signed a partnership agreement with Cornastone Consulting to resell Intrepidus Group's PhishMe software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution.
With the Intrepidus PhishMe offering, Cornastone extends the value of its security product portfolio with software that combats spear phishing attacks.
“Most South African companies are not doing enough to improve the security of their information,” says Patrick Devine, enterprise risk management services at Cornastone. “It is time for senior management and executives to become proactive about information security issues. Information is no longer an IT issue, but one that affects the entire organisation, including partners, suppliers and customers.
“With South Africa set to host the 2010 Soccer World Cup, this event will raise the profile of local institutions and corporations in the eyes of cyber criminals and for an extended period heightened activity can be expected, particularly in the area of phishing attacks,” says Devine. “Research indicates that awareness training has little impact on changing behaviour while PhishMe's ability to conduct mock spear phishing attacks, capturing any discretions such as entering user IDs and passwords or downloading executables, has a much greater impact.”
The agreement between Intrepidus and Cornastone provides key advantages for the channel and strategic resellers that are looking to extend the value of their security product portfolios. Benefits include:
* Significant new offering in the local market to protect against spear phishing;
* Attractive margins for resellers;
* Trial accounts available for resellers to test the technology and real-time benefits;
* Joint Intrepidus and Cornastone webinars to highlight the PhishMe offering and value for the channel and customers; and
* Create channel leverage to extend sales of other key security technologies such as authentication.
“Even after implementing conventional awareness training, our research shows that many organisations - nearly a quarter of the world's corporate workforce - is still vulnerable to threats such as spear phishing attacks,” says Rohyt Belani, security expert and CEO of Intrepidus Group. “Our partnership with Cornastone will deliver an effective anti-phishing solution to companies in the South African region. We look forward to addressing the critical need companies have for mitigating the risk associated with spear phishing attacks, and to continued expansion around the globe to close the gap on existing vulnerabilities.”
PhishMe provides an innovative mechanism for training employees that are most susceptible to e-mail-based social engineering cyber threats that may penetrate anti-spam or phishing filters. The software platform lets organisations establish a human firewall against these attacks by providing a user-friendly, cost-effective system for facilitating mock phishing exercises and delivering electronic-based training to those found vulnerable. Using PhishMe's built-in templates and WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) functionality, users can easily build phishing attacks against employees within minutes, collect metrics on user behaviour, and immediately present security awareness training material to rapidly change employee behaviour and drastically reduce security risks.
