Introducing E-Link by DataPro

Johannesburg, 19 May 1999

Perched on the edge of the new millennium, a handful of companies are planning to spend millions - in some cases up to R50m - in harnessing networks that will go beyond today`s amalgamation of LANs and WANs. These networks will be able to handle an impressive diversity of information at lightening speed.

Determined to stay ahead of the competition, Business Online will soon be launching a new millennium network known as E-link. This futuristic development will ensure that the company remains one of the country`s top Internet Service Providers.

The new Millennium Networks of which E-link is one, will be able to provide the following features:

  • Integrate with a company`s switchboard and provide one number for the whole company nationwide.

  • Provide Crystal - Clear video conferencing for at least 10 people on a nationwide network.

  • Ensure that all calls are made within the domain of the network and are therefore at the cost of local calls (this will only be legally possible in 2002 when Telkom loses its monopoly)

  • Provide iron-clad security for all networked data (so that you don`t have unwelcome people tapping into your internal video conferencing sessions)

  • Intelligently queue all types of data in terms of priority.

In keeping with DataPro`s pledge E-Link will be both user friendly and economical, offering the company`s extensive client base a service that will take them into the new century and beyond.

According to Craig Levy - operational director at DataPro - E-Link will entail a substantial investment, and will involve a considerable learning curve. But, there will be a huge pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, for both Business Online and the clients brave enough to invest in it.
