Local IT security distributor Biodata IT introduces Berlin-based Innominate Security Technologies AG`s mGuard, the world`s smallest security appliance. mGuard provides a combination of firewall and VPN (virtual private network) functions with hardware-supported encryption.
It is ideally suited to protecting IP video conferencing for corporates, without the performance degradation which often occurs if video conferencing is protected on the main network firewall.
The stealth mode developed by Innominate enables a problem-free integration of Innominate mGuard Professional into existing IP structures. This eliminates the time-consuming configuration of IP addresses and routing information. Interoperability with other VPN solutions is guaranteed through support of the IPsec standard.
This high-performance, discrete IP encryptor is ideal for all video conferencing bandwidths and situations. The miniature, external design makes them unobtrusive set-top or desktop devices, locatable between the network and the end-user IP video conferencing device in any room, group, desktop, SOHO or mobile video conferencing setting. Incorporating a powerful, cryptographic microprocessor, mGuard delivers safe and secure, encrypted video conferencing at speeds of up to 50Mbps to any end-point or MCU. The addition of a built-in firewall function further enhances security by preventing malicious hacks and attacks reaching the end-points.
Driven by an advanced Intel CPU, mGuard uses a hardware-based, symmetric 256-bit AES encryption and 168-bit Triple-DES algorithm for encrypting the data stream, ensuring that conferences are immune to eavesdroppers. It also enables best-of-breed video conferencing equipment choices to be made independently of security considerations.
