iPod stores files

Ecamm Networks` iPhoneDrive lets you store files, access music, videos, and photos on your iPhone or iPod touch, according to PC World.

The new 1.2 release provides you with access to the iTunes and iPhoto media you have stored in your iPhone. You can also access music videos, television shows and movies stored on your phone.

System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later, iTunes 7.3 or later and an iPhone or iPod touch. The software is a Universal binary.

Long live the hard drive

iSuppli recently predicted the end times for spinning disc drives in iPods, explains Wired.

This has been met with scepticism. While solid state (or flash) drives are dropping rapidly in price and increasing in capacity, small hard drives are doing the same.

In fact, as demand for high-definition video and other storage-dependent content increases, the traditional hard drive`s shelf life may well be much longer than anyone expects.

Online storage space doubles

The Windows Live SkyDrive service, which is still in beta, has been updated with some significant improvements, explained Ars Technica.

Online storage space has doubled to 1GB, RSS feeds are now available on public folders for keeping track of what updates friends and family have made, and uploaded files are now tagged with information on who uploaded them, as well as the date and size.

It`s also now possible to add a contact from directly within SkyDrive instead of using Windows Live Messenger or Hotmail.
