The UK-based designer and manufacturer of tape storage solutions has long been seeking an outlet for South African resellers to access its automated tape libraries.
"Traditionally, M4 Data marketed its solutions through OEM partners and system suppliers," says Chris Roux, IS MD. "At a time when the tape storage market is growing at an estimated 30-50% each year, the introduction of the MagFile range is timely for the local market."
According to Roux, the MagFile DLTtape library range combines incremental scalability. It is designed to offer: investment protection through its pay-as-you-grow architecture; and the smallest size for any capacity and operator convenience. "At only 7 inches high, MagFile-20 modules use dual 10-Cartridge Magazines for fast bulk loading, enabling the rotation of multiple generations of back up sets. The library also boasts a dedicated cleaning cartridge slot - essential for maintaining the data reliability," he says.
Using the integrated MagLink feature, up to ten modules can be stacked together into a MagStak automated library system with a seven terabyte (native) capacity. The result is an enterprise-class automated tape library that provides the same level of high performance throughout the capacity range.
The MagFile-20 includes an industry-standard PCI bus for easily attaching different interfaces and networks making it ready for Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Networking (SAN) and remote administration via the Internet.
