IS announces new Rimage CD-R System

Secondary storage specialist and member of the Siltek IT Supply Chain, Intelligent Systems (IS), has announced local availability of a new single-drive CD-Recordable (CD-R) publishing system from Rimage.

Chris Roux, MD of the local Rimage distributor, expects the new Producer Amigo 2000 to open up new markets for CD-R publishing systems. "It will appeal to businesses that require such functionality but lack the volume to justify any of Rimage's larger two- or four-CD recorder systems," he says.

An extension of Rimage's Perfect Image Producer 2000 family of products, the new model is a compact, fully automated CD recording and labelling system designed specifically for low-volume on-demand publishing and duplicating applications.

"There is a huge market for short-run production of CDs - especially from the likes of small- to medium-sized audio recording and production studios. These operations typically require automated CD recording and labelling systems capable of producing batches of 500 to 1 000 discs in a cost-effective manner," says Roux. Like Rimage's two- and four-recorder systems, Protege and Autostar, the Amigo features an 8X speed recorder, able to burn a full CD in less than 10 minutes. It also includes Rimage's Prism CD Printer - a full-colour thermal transfer printer for duplicating disc labels.

The Amigo is controlled by Rimage's Perfect Producer 2000 software that manages and automates the system's recording and printing, allowing it to operate completely unattended. This software enables the system to image, download, and record simultaneously - a critical feature when producing multiple jobs calling for one-of-a-kind CDs.
