Following the recent announcement of the Microsoft Business Intelligence Competency, IS Partners has qualified as the first, and currently only, Microsoft partner in Africa with both the BI and Performance Management Specialisations that fall under the new competency.
Ryan Jamieson, director at IS Partners, explains that Microsoft has competencies that recognise partners' skills and qualifications on Microsoft tools and technologies, such as those in data management, custom development and networking and infrastructure, for example.
"Business Intelligence was traditionally a specialisation that formed part of the Data Management Competency. Microsoft has, however, recognised the importance of Business Intelligence and has subsequently created an all-encompassing BI Competency," he says.
The announcement was made at the Microsoft BI South Africa conference held in May this year.
Two specialisations fall under the new BI Competency, namely the BI Platform Specialisation and Performance Management Specialisation.
IS Partners has qualified for both specialisations within the BI competency, meeting the requirements in terms of customer reference sites and the number of consultants within the organisation certified on Microsoft technologies.
"We are also one of only 46 partners worldwide who have qualified for both specialisations," Jamieson says.
He adds that the specialisations extend IS Partners' competency within the Business Intelligence framework, and adds to its existing competencies in CRM and Information Worker.
