2014 was an excellent year for the ISACA South African Chapter. The chapter was awarded two prestigious honours, being the K. Wayne Snipes Award as the Regional Winner for being the Best Very Large Chapter across Europe and Africa, as well as a Communications Commendation.
The K. Wayne Snipes Chapter Recognition Award was established in 1989 to recognise ISACA chapters that meet or exceed service goals by actively supporting local members in the audit, security, risk and governance professions.
The award is given to the top chapter per size category, including small (up to 100 members), medium (101-300 members), large (301-800 members) and very large (more than 800 members), within each region of the world.
Per ISACA, award recipients are determined based on the following criteria:
* Chapter membership and growth;
* Member service projects;
* Chapter-sponsored educational events;
* Attendance at chapter meetings;
* Involvement on association committees or with association activities;
* Involvement with other professional organisations; and
* Compliance with ISACA International Headquarters.
The Communications Commendation award recognises the vital role that chapters play when planning and executing stellar communication with their constituents.
Both awards will be presented at the 2015 Europe/Africa Leadership Conference, scheduled to take place in Copenhagen, Denmark on 7-8 November 2015.
In the words of the SA Chapter President, Kenneth Chikwanha: "These awards are fantastic news and I genuinely am proud to be a part of this winning team. This is a great way to start 2015. Coming on the back of the worldwide award we received for 2013, we are encouraged by the chapter's level of consistency. It remains the highest honour to be recognised on the world stage for providing value to our membership and other stakeholders."
The ISACA SA board is extremely proud of the chapter's achievements and is committed to providing value to its members. It would also like to thank its members for their support and feedback. This has enabled it to be a great chapter and contributed significantly to this achievement.
