ISACA South Africa wins prestigious K. Wayne Snipes for best large chapter in Europe & Africa

ISACA, a non-profit, global association serving more than 110 000 IT governance professionals, has announced the winners of the K. Wayne Snipes Chapter Recognition Award. The award was established in 1989 and recognises ISACA chapters that meet or exceed service goals by actively supporting local members in the audit, security, risk and governance professions.

The award is given to the top chapter in four size categories - small (up to 100 members), medium (101-300 members), large (301-800 members) and very large (more than 800 members) - within each region of the world.

The South African Chapter is delighted to have been announced as the winner of the Europe and Africa regional ISACA K. Wayne Snipes Award for very large chapters, taking over the title from last year's winner, Switzerland.

"This award is an acknowledgement of hard work that the chapter board, volunteers and staff have been putting in over the last couple of years," said Winston Hayden, President of ISACA South Africa. "I am extremely proud of the ISACA chapter team and what they have achieved. We are demonstrating that we are indeed a leading nation in the field of IT governance."

Award recipients are determined based on the following criteria:

* Educational events put on by the chapter;
* Attendance at chapter meetings/educational events;
* Involvement on association committees, or with association activities;
* Involvement with other professional organisations;
* Chapter membership growth;
* Member service projects; and
* Compliance with ISACA International Headquarters requirements.

The South African Chapter was also recognised as being the very large chapter with the highest membership growth worldwide, having added 320 members in the last year to boost membership to 2 300 members.

"We were able to achieve an average growth rate of 17% in 2013. That's a phenomenal achievement for a very large chapter," said the Chapter President.

The award for the Best Chapters worldwide will be announced at the Global Leadership Conference, in Las Vegas, in April 2014 and the South African Chapter is a strong contender.
