(ISC)^2, Analytix to offer official CISSP CBK Review Seminar in Johannesburg, in November 2009

Johannesburg, 05 Aug 2009

(ISC)^2 and Analytix have announced their co-operation in offering the only official CISSP CBK Review Seminar and the CISSP examinations in South Africa.

Charlene O'Reilly, Head of Training for Analytix: “We are pleased to announce that the next CISSP CBK Review Seminar in South Africa will be offered by Analytix in conjunction with (ISC)^2, at the Wanderers Club, Illovo, Johannesburg, from 9 to 13 November 2009. The official CISSP examination will be on 28 November 2009.

“We understand that there are other CISSP courses offered in South Africa from time to time, but would like to stress that this CISSP CBK Review Seminar is the only CISSP programme sanctioned, offered and delivered by (ISC)^2. Interest in the sought-after CISSP qualification is very high. Analytix and (ISC)^2 have received requests from all over Africa for the training.”

The CISSP credential, the first ISO accredited credential in the field of information security, demonstrates competence in the 10 domains of the (ISC)^2 CISSP CBK.

Analytix will lead the marketing, promotion, registration and back-office support of all related CISSP events in South Africa, and (ISC)^2 will deliver the official (ISC)^2 credential-led CISSP CBK Review Seminars.

This CISSP CBK practical five-day, authorised instructor-led course is designed to ensure that the delegates:

* Obtain the skills and knowledge of the core competencies required of an information systems security professional, whether planning to sit for the examination or not, which they will have achieved in a structured learning environment.
* Gain practical insight into the 10 CISSP domains of the common body of knowledge and have thoroughly prepared for the certification examination in a systematic way.
* Master the concepts and topics related to all aspects of information systems security.

The CISSP CBK Review Seminar is being held at The Wanderers Club, Illovo, from 9 to 13 November 2009.

CISSP examinations

The CISSP examination follows a multiple-choice format and consists of one six-hour paper containing 250 multiple-choice questions, with fours choices each. The examination tests a candidate's knowledge of IS audit principles and practices as well as technical content areas. The exam covers the 10 content areas (domains) and those tasks that are routinely performed by a CISSP. The passing grade required is a scale score of 700 out of a possible 1 000 points on the grading scale.

In order to qualify to sit for the examination, the candidate should have at least four full years of experience in information security or three years of professional experience in the information security field and a university degree.

All exam fee queries can be directed to Lindsay Drabwell at ldrabwell@isc2.org or Ben Roberts at broberts@isc2.org.
