Isett Seta has begun its annual roadshow to inform levy-paying companies on how to submit the annual training report (ATR) and workplace skills plan (WSP) online.
The Isett training authority, a public enterprise facilitating ICT skills development in SA, has over 2 000 stakeholder companies in its fold. These companies make up the potential employers of the scarce skill occupations.
According to Neville Nicholas, senior manager of Isett Seta's sector skills planning division, the organisation began its roadshow in Durban yesterday. “We will train Isett skills development facilitators, independent skills development facilitators, and employers of the grant payment process on how to submit their training reports online.
“Each month, organisations with a total annual payroll of more than R500 000 contribute 1% of payroll in the form of a skills development levy contribution to the skills development fund,” Nicholas explains. This is administered by the South African Revenue Services according to legislation, he adds.
Nicholas notes that, upon submission of an ATR and WSP to its relevant Seta, and provided they are approved by the Seta, the organisation can claim back 50% of its levy contribution. This is usually paid back to the organisation on a quarterly basis.
“If the employer does not claim a mandatory grant by the deadline date, the Seta must transfer the employer's unclaimed mandatory grant funds to the discretionary fund,” he points out.
He says all levy-paying companies must submit their ATR to Isett Seta before 30 June.
Today, the roadshow will take place in Port Elizabeth, tomorrow in Cape Town, and in Johannesburg on Wednesday and Thursday next week.
