ISP branded mobile e-mail application

Johannesburg, 13 Aug 2008

Following the successful testing of its mobile e-mail application, Redwing CS, Nillex Publishing announced the product is finally ready for the market.

Targeted at ISPs

With ISPs having spent time, effort and resources building their brand, Nillex has developed Redwing CS to allow ISPs to brand it as their own unique mobile e-mail application and provide it as an add-on service to their existing clients.

Most importantly, ISPs can achieve this without outlaying heavy costs for development of their own product.

"We feel this is the product's unique selling point and provides tremendous value to ISPs of all sizes," says Thabo Makenete, Nillex's Chief Architect.

Support for multiple phones

Developed using the Java platform, Redwing CS supports any Java MIDP 2.0 enabled cellphone with a GPRS/EDGE data plan.

Why not push e-mail?

With Nillex's initial strategy being to partner with ISPs to target home users, as opposed to corporate users, the push e-mail functionality is not supported by the current version.

The main reason for this is to reduce the cost (to the customer) of receiving the add-on service from their ISP.

Responding to this strategy, Makenete said: "We understand the growing demand for push e-mail, even among home users. However, we feel the service can be provided at greatly reduced costs if push e-mail is not supported. We do plan to release a version with the push e-mail facility before the end of this year, which the user will have the option of receiving at an extra cost."
