Telkom SA provisionally awarded IST Data with the Service Assignment Manager contract at the end of last year. The agreement was finalized and signed on 14 January 2005, the first orders were received on 20 January 2005and the project is set to kick off on 24 January 2005.
The contract entails the supply of the IST developed CAM (Circuit Assignment Manager) software and GE Smallworld platform licenses, as well as architectural, development, implementation, maintenance and support services throughout the project period. The total project value is set at R150m.
The CAM software is intended to help Telkom to automate its provisioning and assurance processes. That is, the back-office work required to confirm and manage service requests for rolling out new services to customers, as well as for information requirements for the maintenance of existing services.
