IT governance now certifiable

IT auditing organisation ISACA has introduced a new certificate that will enable employees involved in corporate to have their ability assessed, says NetworkWorld.

The Certificate for the Governance of Enterprise IT will allow professionals to demonstrate their competence in a variety of skills, as well as displaying their ability to assess the contribution made by IT to an organisation while managing the risks associated with those IT systems.

The first exam in the new certificate would be held in December, but in the meantime, grandfathering provision (ie, candidates with significant experience would be able to gain certification without taking the exam), is available now.

Agiliance goes to UK

Agiliance, a provider of IT governance, and (IT-GRC) solutions, is expanding its global footprint with the launch of its EMEA headquarters based in London, England, states The Earth Times.

The new site formalises Agiliance's commitment to the region and builds upon the existing satellite infrastructure which supports clients such as Bwin Interactive AG.

Former Oracle executive and seasoned technology professional Martyn Richards has been appointed as MD of Agiliance EMEA and will be responsible for managing existing relationships, driving new business and providing the strategic direction for EMEA operations.

Book discusses cyber-crime

A new book by defence and commercial security expert, Dr Julie Mehan, CyberWar, CyberTerror, CyberCrime, published by IT Governance, provides a stark and timely analysis of the increasingly hostile online landscape that today's corporate systems inhabit, reports Cambridge Network.

"Cyber-war, cyber-terror and cyber-crime are a real and present danger, and organisations that are unprepared for them are organisations that are wandering blindly into a destructive future," warns Mehan.

Of interest to security professionals, are the chapters addressing cyber-defence, governance, laws and standards, which discuss the current regulatory landscape and suggest practical methods for applying international standards and best practices to create a culture of security within organisations.
