Electronic services company Electronic Law Consultancy has released a packaged solution to provide small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) with legal against the that computers and the Internet create.

"The SMME e-Risk solution was designed to address the widening gap between actual business risks and legislative compliance, as most small companies do not fully understand IT law issues and cannot afford to address them," says Andrew Marshall, a consultant at Electronic Law Consultancy.

"The majority of security incidents on computer systems are the result of employee negligence or fraud, and although companies finance hardware or software security solutions, they are taking no steps to control their staff."

Marshall says the package includes an initial consultation and an industry-specific e-law compliance test, after which a risk evaluation is delivered to the company.

"The specific industrial legal compliance test included in the package ensures a business complies with all relevant laws, and since the launch of the solutions package, we have one company on board already," says Marshall.

"Our solutions package costs R5 000, and the client receives a comprehensive and structured package, including all the necessary policies and supporting documentation. Many lawyers will charge between R2 000 and R5 000 for each of these policies."

Marshall says the packaged solution comes with training for management and staff, free support for six months after the implementation of the policies, as well as a 25% discount for a year after delivery.
