The search for SA`s top IT personalities is approaching its final stage. The winners of the IT Leadership and IT Personality of the Year awards will be announced at the CSSA Annual President`s Awards Dinner next week.
The finalists are Ken Jarvis, CIO of SARS; Stafford Masie, MD of Novell SA; Mthunzi Mdwaba, executive chairman of Torque IT; Nirvesh Sooful, CIO of the City of Cape Town; and brothers Nkosinathi and Lucky Khumalo, respectively the CEO and chief operations director of Mthombo-IT.
The finalists were selected through a combination of online public voting and interviews by a panel of judges.
The Computer Society of SA (CSSA) awards are run in association with ITWeb and Meta Group South Africa.
The IT personality award recognises an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to the industry in the current year. The leadership accolade is a lifetime achievement award, recognising sustainable contribution to the industry over a long period.
Over the past 28 years, the winners of the IT personality award have included Alan Knott-Craig, Andile Ngcaba, Jeremy Ord, Mark Shuttleworth and Benjamin Mopathlane.
Last year, the winner was Dali Mpofu, group executive director of corporate affairs at Altron and chairman of the ICT empowerment charter working group.
ITWeb and Meta Group introduced the IT leadership award in 2002, when it was presented to Andile Ngcaba, then director-general of the Department of Communications. Last year, the winner was Alewyn Burger, director of Direct Banking at Standard Bank.
The CSSA Annual President`s Awards Dinner takes place on Wednesday, 27 October at the Sandton Sun.
