IT, management link 'misunderstood`

The relationship between IT and management has not been well understood and as a result, not given sufficient attention, according to a report by advocacy group Industry Alliance.

According to The Web Host Industry Review, the report is a summary of the findings of a conference held to discuss the adequacy of IT security guidance given by Sarbanes-Oxley

The report shows that management and legal counsels tend to defer to auditors and those companies with existing internal controls are more able to attain .

The report concludes that management and legal counsel representatives oppose additional IT governance and security guidance from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. It is perceived as unnecessary, unhelpful and unwanted.

Mercury certified for ITIL support

Mercury Interactive`s business technology optimisation offerings have completed Pink Elephant`s PinkVerify certification process, receiving the Service Support Enhanced certification, reports Computerworld.

This certification is awarded by Pink Elephant, a global IT management best practices company. It is a verification of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) compatibility and represents the highest level of IT Service Management (ITSM) product certification.

Global user conference

Serena Software, which focuses solely on managing change in the IT environment, is to hold its 12th annual global user conference, Serena Xchange 2005, to discuss the latest IT strategies and innovations.

The conference, to be held at the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel from 18 to 21 September, will bring together customers, partners and industry experts worldwide, according to a news release.

Serena is also to unveil its new strategy designed to help customers anticipate change and turn it into a source of business advantage.
