IT Naledi Solutions turns five

Johannesburg, 03 Feb 2012

The end of 2011 saw IT Naledi Solutions celebrating its fifth birthday, following its spin-off in late 2006 from Unisys South Africa, as part of that company's major restructuring and black empowerment exercise.

“The creation of IT Naledi Solutions was a challenge for us all, but the journey over the past five years has been an exciting and successful one, despite this period including a major recession in the local and world economies,” commented Hashiem Bardien, Sales and Marketing Director of IT Naledi Solutions.

“During this time, we have more than tripled our revenue, our staff numbers have more than doubled, and 90% of our revenue is now generated from annuity income.

“Since our establishment, the company has expanded its portfolio in a number of different areas,” continued Bardien. “For instance, we are also now a reseller for Dell and not just a company providing Dell services in the Western Cape; we have become a local southern African reseller for Interlink Electronics, a US-based provider of digital signature solutions, specifically regarding the sales of their ePad; and have grown our customer base to include Lewis Stores as one of our major clients.

“Our success in part comes from the heavy investment we make in the skilling and ongoing certification/training of our staff,” said Bardien. “This includes ITIL and COBIT orientation, as we see these as key methodologies for IT service management. We believe the next five years will be more exciting than our first five, with several new and key initiatives currently in the process of being put to bed.”

IT Naledi

IT Naledi Solutions is a South African IT infrastructure services company that supplies and manages a diverse range of hardware and software solutions for large and medium organisations. It engages with its clients to tailor IT services solutions that support their business objectives and meet their budgets. Its service delivery is built around four core beliefs: flexibility, accountability, customer focus and cost efficiency.

The company was spun out of Unisys South Africa in January 2007 when staff members, with over 200 years of collective IT experience between them, took over ownership and control of its Western Cape services divisions. It retains close links with Unisys and serves all Unisys' Western Cape clients.

IT Naledi is more than 70% black-owned and 80% of its board members are black, making it a true BEE company with an Empowerdex BEE Level 2 certification. It is also an employee-owned business, with 49% of shares held by employees and 51% by directors.

Although Western Cape-based, it serves clients throughout South and southern Africa, including Namibia, Botswana and Swaziland.
