IT personality of the year 2007

The IT personality of the year 2007 is once again upon us, and you can nominate your favourite candidate online.

The Computer Society of South Africa's (CSSA) IT Personality of the Year Awards have run for 29 years are presented this year in association with ITWeb, Gartner Africa and Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).

Nominations are open to the public until 31 August and must include a detailed motivation.

In order to be considered for the award, a candidate needs to have been successful in building a respected IT organisation or business; has made a major contribution to the IT profession or a significant technical or academic contribution to the IT industry; or has made innovative use of IT to transform business, public services, communities and people's lives.

Based on the nominations received from the public, a panel of judges will compile a shortlist of ten nominees. This shortlist will be announced on ITWeb on 12 September and will be opened for public voting until Friday 28 September.

To be considered for the ICT Leader the candidate needs to have displayed exceptional leadership qualities over a number of years and who has made a sustainable contribution to the development and growth of the South African IT industry. They also should have made innovative use of IT to transform business, public services, communities and people's lives.
