This new and revolutionary product, is the best benefit that the ITA can bring its members this whole year.
The 1st of January 2001 is the cut off date in terms of the Medical Schemes Act. What that means for you? After 1 January 2001, Medical Aid companies may elect what they cover you for, and that you would not be precluded from joining if you were already an Aids sufferer or had a terminal illness. After January, all medical aids will be entitled to impose late joiner penalties and exclusions to companies and individuals.
With this in mind, the ITA, in association with Discovery Health have collaborated to produce a Group Medical Aid Scheme for ITA Members. This is a major achievement to get a Medical Aid Scheme to agree to form a Group Scheme for members of an association, whether the member company employs one or a thousand employees!
A representative from Discovery Health will be presenting this exciting scheme and other new products to interested parties, at the following venues and dates: ITA Conference Centre, 355 Pretoria Avenue, Ferndale, on 30 December 2000 at 3:00pm KPMG Building, 4th Floor, West Bank House, corner Long and Riebeek Streets, Cape Town on 6 December at 3:30pm.
The following benefits will be discussed:
- How ITA Members can benefit from this scheme, by belonging to the ITA
- How companies who employ less than 50 staff members would get automatic underwriting as a group, and how there would be no individual underwriting or loading
- How contractors and companies who provide contracting services can be accommodated

This is one product in a series of exciting new products being offered by the ITA to its members. Various services are already in place. Other services being phased in by the ITA, as from mid-November 2000 are:

- Consultants and legal representation at the CCMA. This is based on the fact that the ITA is the registered employer`s association.
- Labour Help line
- Benefit queries on Medical Aid and Provident Fund Schemes
- General HR assistance, including policies and procedures, Equity and Skills Development
- There is the further intention to set up an umbrella Provident Fund for IT companies belonging to the ITA, to allow them to benefit from more reasonable rates and lower risk.
