Itec introduces two powerful MFPs for large offices

Johannesburg, 30 Jun 2009

Itec has launched the B 751 and B 601, two multifunctional products (MFPs) designed as centre machines for large-size offices, where clients look for reliable and highly efficient monochrome models.

“Offering a combination of fast output and input, robust security and flexible networking, offices in any line of business will benefit from the advanced features offered by these powerful machines,” says Holger Groenert, manager product marketing, Itec Distribution.

Evolving from their predecessors, the B 751 and B 601 come equipped with a number of new features and technologies to improve operability and ease-of-use. These include compatibility with the next-generation IPv6 network protocol, high-speed gigabit Ethernet, and a Direct Print function for quick and easy printing of PDF and XPS files.

Both models offer an impressive scanning speed of 75ppm (A4, 600dpi). “Once documents are scanned, the data can be moved directly to networked PCs, public or private folders on the HDD, to fax or e-mail destinations one at a time or to multiple destinations in different formats,” says Groenert. “Multi-method send allows users to do all of this with a single operation.” Combined with a powerful OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tool, like Abbyy Finreader, hardcopies can instantly be transformed into digital files and incorporated in the workflow further, eg, editing these or archiving.

“An 8.5-inch full-colour LCD control panel with an intuitive interface makes it easier for users to navigate through the many useful functions that both MFPs have to offer,” says Groenert. “It is also much more intuitive to navigate to files and preview before printing, making document retrieval simple.” The panel also features an enlarged text mode and can be set to the height and angle that best suits each user in the office.

In terms of network sharing, the 60GB HDD contains 1 000 boxes, each with a storage capacity of up to 3 000 documents or 10 000 files, letting important ideas be pooled and archived. In addition to conventional fax functionality, IP and Internet fax as well as PC fax are also available, cutting costs by taking advantage of users' network infrastructure.

Both models offer a standard paper capacity of 3 600 sheets (A6-A3, 50-200g/m2) that can expanded to 7 600 sheets, and both toner and paper can be replaced during output to reduce downtime. Time saving, cost-effective finishing options include hole punching, stapling, gate-folding, Z-folding and saddle stitching for booklets of up to 80 pages.

“Keeping data safe without restricting access to authorised users is essential to keeping offices running safely and at peak efficiency,” Groenert adds. “Biometric and IC card authentication can be used together with external authentication servers such as Active Directory, simplifying user management in large-scale offices.” Optional Print Director provides a complete audit track of usage, including billing information.

Besides authorisation, data is protected by features such as HDD data encryption, HDD password lock and random erase formatting. In addition, SSL, S/MIME, and PDF encryption protects data while it is being sent, ensuring safer data handling and preventing unauthorised use.

Both the B 751 and the B 601 are compliant with the International Energy Star Program guidelines and Blue Angel guidelines.
