Document solutions company, Itec, recently announced that they have been awarded an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreement from Konica Minolta Business Technologies Inc. (KMBT) in Japan.
Itec will offer their customer base Itec-branded copiers and MFP`s (multi-functional products), while continuing to supply Konica Minolta branded printers.
Konica Minolta have supported the development of a local brand by financially investing in Itec`s marketing campaign and other areas of the business. Itec will continue actively marketing the Konica Minolta name and strengthening a strong association between the two, while focusing on building their own brand locally.
Itec has enjoyed much success in the past, supplying the Konica Minolta range of document solutions products to southern Africa. This success is evident in their consistent 40%, year on year, increase in sales following the merge of Konica and Minolta two years ago. As a result, Itec has earned the reputation of being the fastest-growing document solutions company in southern Africa.
"Itec`s accomplishments can be attributed to two equally important factors; the quality of the people we employ as well as the high standard and reputation of the Konica Minolta products. Together this allows us to offer clients a complete document solutions package. The OEM arrangement is a means of capitalising on this winning combination," said Jacques Duyver, CEO, Itec.
"Securing an OEM agreement with Konica Minolta Business Technologies Inc. is a major achievement and one which we have been actively working towards for some time. It is also the fulfillment of one of the main goals for the company, to be the first document solutions company in South Africa to grow a local brand, which has the potential to succeed in foreign markets," adds Duyver.
In 1998, Itec received the rights to sell Konica products in southern Africa. Following the merge of Konica and Minolta, they now supply the Konica Minolta brand of multi-functional products - copiers, faxes and printers.
Itec incorporate over 700 staff distributed between 65 branches in South Africa and further afield in Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Reunion and Zimbabwe.
