Itec simplifies document management

Johannesburg, 26 Feb 2009

Itec has introduced the B282 and B362, the latest additions to its series of monochrome multifunctional products (MFPs) that the company says are ideal for workgroups and mid-sized offices.

Both devices combine fast, high-quality scanning and output with productivity-enhancing features for securely sharing and managing , according to Itec.

“The Itec B282/B362 support industry-standard network protocols and extend the functionality of existing network infrastructures,” says Holger Groenert, manager of product marketing for Itec . “The combination of network functionality, dependable security and ease of use makes each one a compelling document management solution.”

The company says scans can be done directly to PDF or TIFF format at a speed of up to 70 documents per minute (at 200dpi), then distributed directly to multiple network recipients via a variety of file transfer methods, such as FTP. They can also be sent as e-mail attachments or Internet faxes. An optional fax kit, the company notes, also extends the capabilities with G3 fax, IP fax and PC fax.

Groenert says both devices deliver 28ppm and 36ppm of output respectively, while PCL 6 and Postscript 3 emulation are standard to ensure accurate reproduction at 600dpi x 600dpi output resolution.

In terms of network security, Groenert says: “Data is protected against unauthorised access with SSL-encrypted transmission, strong user authentication features and a Secure Print function, which allows printing to begin only after the user enters a password at the control panel.

“The optional HDD can also be locked with a password, and the data completely overwritten with random numbers before disposal,” he concludes.
